I bought Unreal Tournament in GAME on Saturday. Installed it initially
in Windows and played it first there. It didn't detect either of my 3D
cards though.. :| (3DFX/TNT) but I chose Direct3d and it used the TNT
eventually. (DirectX7 issue probably)

After a few games, boot back into Linux, and unarchive the UT tarball.
The game said it couldn't find windrv or somthing similar but that went
away when I renamed a .ini file.

Linux UT only supports Glide at the moment and it plays rather well on
my old Voodoo 1, but only at a max resolution of 640x480. I hope they
release an OpenGL version sometime.

Network play over a 56K modem is just about acceptable, with pings of
between 200 and 350 generally. Some sites reported pings of around 49
but another ping to the server gave truer figures.

UT did crash in Linux when I tried to "change video driver" and that
required a hard reset.

Anyway, I can't wait to try it on a LAN :)

Donncha.
PS. Quake3's ordered from Loki!
