When cable modems first came out nearly a decade ago, several people
in computing and TV asked Multichannel what their plans were. The
response was (a) what's an internet? (b) why would people want to
do that? (c) what's it got to do with us -- we do TV not computing?
I have no idea if they have changed, but they had an appalling
reputation for simply not understanding technology and what it offered.
It's entirely possible someone has put them right by now, which would
be wonderful, but the fact that they haven't bothered to advertise this
service direct to the people who would be their best advocates tends to
indicate that their level of understanding has not changed much.

Certainly is. In the meantime, put your name down for ADSL :-)
