I've been in touch with Multichannel recently about varioues services
they're advertising: "web through your TV set" is a set top box running
on ordinary dialup; their "cable phone" services again work through
ordinary dialup, in a similar fashion to Ocean or Esat Clear; and they
plan to introduce cable internet some time around November.
Btw multichannel have made a start at a website...
http://www.irish-multichannel.ie - insofar as they've got the domain
name and the web space... now if they would make some attempt at
replacing the tinet "welcome to your webspace" message (yep, tinet, not
eircom, it's been sitting idle that long) with some content of their
own, that would be really good.
I've also been in touch with Telecom... it took me about ten minutes to
get somebody in their sales department who had actually _heard_ of ADSL;
they acknowledged that, yes, they're trialling it in Dublin; but they
don't plan to release it until the end of this year.
