just as a reply to below... :-)

just leave the Multichannel guy come around to my house to take my
Dish....I'd like to see him get past the buckshot from my Shotgun...

Ok, on a serious note...

The last I heard was that NTL was gonna setup an ADSL test-ring somewhere on
the southside, close to the city of something like 80-200 houses.
Their proposed setup would be a 100mps backbone with 10Mbp/s(backbone +
Download to client) neighbourhood hub which could server up to 30-40 houses
with an upload channel of 256kb/sec...

Realistically, you are talking about 1 Mb(bit)/Sec d/l and something like a
64k(typically ISDN) upload.
That is, if Dillon & Gearoid is not downloading an entire Sunsite Mirror
;-))

A set-top box or PCI special terminator/adapter can be used.

Prices are expected to be in the region of £35-£45 p.m. for the typical user
and £70 for Gearoid!

But, again NTL were bought-out after I recieved this info, so it could all
be changed!

Muck, I say, Muck.

James.

Heya,
Thought this was a joke mail from Donncha first .. John slowly wrote .. ;)

I haven't heard anything aobut this one, but I presume it'd be the same as
sky offer? browse the net using your remote .. interective tv .. bleh ..
Anyhow, rumours that I've heard are not nice .. concerning multichannel..
Seeing that rumour has the flu and everything else atm, it also has that
Ireland will be going into the dsl age soon, but alas, cork wont be .. due
to a monopoly multichannel supposingly has in cork.. supposidly legally
given to it by our dear cork politicians.
****It is illegal to have a satellite dish on your house, so multichannel
can
inforce..**** instead of stopping individual householders, they supposidly
just
stop new broadcasters setting up shop.

Alot of supposings here .. does anyone know the sure facts?

I presume you know about esats suft no limits?
17quid a month for unlimited connection from 6pm - 8am + no phone charge :)
