[CLUG] Hello, Redhat? Hello?

Anyone else used Redhat support of late? The support department seems to be
going down that dotcom road. I sent in a request about pppd on RH7 last week.
Having been on mailing lists for a couple of years now, I know the deal - try
and get as much info into as short a space as possible. Here's the request:

<Summary>Redhat dialler not finding modem</Summary>
<Problem Description>The Redhat Internet connection program (on the desktop) is
not finding my modem. The modem is an external MRi Mr. Modem (Model No. E210).
It worked with a previous version of Redhat (6.2).</Problem Description>
<Additional Comments>I should also point out that I have had a similar problem
in (an unsupported) Mandrake 7.0 & 7.2. When trying to setup kppp, I get the
error "sorry, the modem is busy". If I try in Gnome, I get the error "the pppd
daemon died unexpectedly". I have searched the Internet extensively for a
solution, but most responses assume the modem is a winmodem, which this
isn't.</Additional Comments>

The response from Redhat?

"Hello, Use minicom to manually detect and set your modem"

I mean, if I knew how to do that, I would have done it, right? GAH!
