Well, most of the long-term Irish Linux users I've met or talked to have tended
to look down on RedHat. If I mention that RedHat runs on one of my servers, they
ask why I'm not running $this or $that, "which would be much better". I guess
some people don't like the commercial angle either, although I'd applaud them
for it personally.

Me, I tend to run RedHat most of the time, *because* it runs on my server. But I
came to Linux through the command line, and I don't think it makes much of a
difference at the prompt. I tried Mandrake recently though, and I have to admit
that it seems to be much better when it comes to X. I tried Corel at the same
time, and, well, it was crap. I can't see it being any better for a newbie than
RedHat, and if I was to recommend a distro for a newbie - from my limited
experience - it would be Mandrake.
