I have an USB Iomega Predator CDRW that I occasionally connect to my
Mandrake 8 laptop. I haven't tried recording to it but it appears to
function correctly as a CDROM drive.
After attaching it you must grep the system log to find the device name
and and add an entry to /etc/fstab to mount it because Mandrake won't do
that for you.
I would tell you what settings you need if weren't for the fact that
MandrakeUpdate just made my machine unbootable after updating the kernel.
