I don't think it needs that now. It responds immediately to PPP, so my
chat-ppp1 says:
'ABORT' 'BUSY'
'ABORT' 'ERROR'
'ABORT' 'NO CARRIER'
'ABORT' 'NO DIALTONE'
'ABORT' 'Invalid Login'
'ABORT' 'Login incorrect'
'' 'ATZ0 S0=1'
'OK' 'ATDT2309811'
'CONNECT' ''
at which point your system flips into PPP and either waits for the
challenge or issues a request, whichever way you want to set it.
