About the closest you'll get is Gnucash, and it could already be installed on 
your Linux system if you installed Gnome. 
Don't even think of installing it from source though, the dependencies 
required will have you running to Windows faster than.. well, something fast.

There's also Moneydance, but I doubt it has any features geared specifically 
towards the Ireland. Google will help you find more about that product.

I use Gnucash at home, and have done for almost a year. It's excellent for 
basic accounting. It does have some tax features but I'm not that good at 
accounting to figure out what they mean (ok, I fell asleep in accounting.. 
zzzz..)
