[CLUG] Linux PVR

I have planned on doing this a number of times but haven't got around
to it yet, in the meantime I'm using an XBox with XBoxMediaCentre [1]
installed for viewing my photos watching downloaded media etc. This is
working as a stopgap solution for me at the moment but I'm still
looking to get a PVR going.
The main problem I've found while doing any research is that the whole
thing seems to be very US-centric and most software/hardware focuses
on that. For example my understanding of the US cable/satellite system
is that the PVR card is capable of tuning to a specific channel
automatically. With Sky to achieve this you must get a TV capture card
and tune it to either the RF or SCART output of your Sky box and then
find an alternative method of changing channels. The RedEye [2]
controller seems to be a common way of achieving this.
After that point Myth TV seems to be the best solution for your PVR. I
just did some Google searches there and people seem to be using it in
conjunction with Sky to act as a PVR.
There's an episode of Systm on making a MythTV box [4] which may be
worth looking at.
