[ILUG] config file parser lib ?

getopt is to command line parsing as thingy is to config file
parsing. 

does anyone have a good candidate for thingy, previously and
at the moment i use lex to help me parse config files, and thats
a lot earier than doing it fully manually. But i feel
that there has to be a more unified way. Theres so many 
different types of config files out there. I'd like that
at least all my apps would be able to follow the same 
config file structure/syntax.
