Does it do it at all resolutions, (try Ctrl-Alt-Keypad+ to cycle)...
if not, then remove the resolutions it doesn't like (edit /etc/X11/XF86Config
for redhat, /etc/XF86Config for vanilla XF86).

If it does, then update XF86 by grabbing either the updates for your distribution, or the tgz files from
http://sunsite.org.uk/Mirrors/ftp.xfree86.org
