kevin just used dict on my machine for that.  for those of you who
want a dictionary type program under linux wander over to
http://www.dict.org and download the dict client, server, and data
files.  in addition there are clients for windows, macs, java,
etc.  there's also a gnome program called "word inspector."

anyway, just a little aside comment.
