Are you *absolutely* certain of that? The vast, vast majority of PCI
modems are 'winmodems' in the sense of being crippled, largely
software driven devices. Technically, 'WinModem' is a brandname and
a trademark, so 'Not a WinModem(tm)' doesn't mean that it's not a
useless piece of silicon.

You don't mention whether it's internal or external, PCI or ISA?

It's probably *the* single most commonly asked question on
comp.os.linux.hardware, so I would suggest doing a quick search
on DejaNews. That should explain everything as thoroughly as
possible.
