Hello again all,

Sorry I changed my mail again as I got feed up with using the Irish Times
web mail. It's too dam slow!

Anyhow thanks to all who answered my question. Somebody did ask why. Well
quite simply . In an ideal world we would all use linux or something like
it but unfortunately we are not in an ideal world. I design sites for drink
and if I am going to spend time on a project I want a definite knowledge of
what ppl are using. Going through my own logs has produced an inconclusive
result. It's practically 50/50.

The big problem for me is having to design for 2 or three browsers at a
time for the one site. It's a bit annoying to put it nicely. Now I know
that you should always provide backward compatibly but it does add to an
already heavy workload.

Now I have been keeping an eye on browser developments for a while now and
I think the future looks bleak for Netscape. I have D loaded the dev
version of modzilla and while I am Very impressed with it, it still has not
implemented my dream. That being the proper implementation of css and dhtml.

I remember the days when Netscape was King and M$ was a wee lad not able to
do anything. Now things have changed. It's all messed up for Netscape. Ask
any designer and ask w3 and they will tell you who has implemented the
standards more accurately, and that M$. Why not do something mad Netscape
like implement your own, the standard, and M$. If they did they would not
be in the position they are in today. Before the 4 Generation browsers came
out I used to design with Netscape in mind and M$ in second place. Ah well
if it does not work in M$ let the user get a proper browser. Now things are
different. I now have to design for M$ which actually is really beginning
to P*** me off big time. Should we as users of Netscape be encouraging them
to implement certain things? Should we as users be encouraging the ISP's
not to accept the money M$ throws at them for distributing their browser. I
have made my feelings clear to Netscape but to little avail. I will still
support them but more out of principle share and share alike I say.

Anyhow good luck to all. Sorry about the rant but passion is here and not sense

Thanks
Anton
