   gnu fortran, usually shipped with distros.
  Its only F77 though.  there are a few commerical (and good) fortran
compilers for linux.

   Been done a million times.  Theres a hand book on the thing (url
escapes me, email me for it),
   which describe both the maths and parallel implemtation of this and
other numerical methods.
   (yellow book, damn can't recall it, then again you'd probably have
it).
  Discrete systems... seem to remember large amounts of data transfers
between nodes...
