If you happen to be using Tom's Boot Root Disk, I believe (if memory
serves me right, which it frequently doesn't) there is an
incompatibility between it and partitions formatted by the Redhat 6.1
install program.

I tend to use loadlin to get me by these types of problems. Nice and
simple.
