Robert,
>>ok well I wasn't allowed send the XF86Config files
to the list so I'll mail them to you off-line . . .
Here are two examples of XF86Config for the Latitude
CPi A366XT, the first is for the screen the second for docked ...
<< File: laptop.txt >> << File: ext_mon.txt >>
"The X Window System (XFree86) is easy to configure, once
you know the video chipset. The card database lists the card as NeoMagic
(laptop/notebook) MagicGraph 128 series. This chipset is handled by the SVGA
server. These laptops support up to 16 bpp with up to 800x600 resolution for
12.1" TFT displays and up to 1024x748 for 13.3" TFT displays. The laptops
support up to 1280x1024 resolution for external monitors."
During Xconfiguration :
* select the NeoMagic (laptop/notebook) MagicGraph 128 series
* select LCD Panel 1024x768 (or 800x600 for 12" screens)
* DON'T probe for default color depth and resolution
* although I don't think it matters (it gets commented out in
XF86Config), I select 4MB of video memory
* select No Clockchip Setting (recommended) and SKIP the Probe for
Clocks
* in Select Video Modes, only select 16 bit 1024x768 (or 800x600)

Subject: [ILUG] More Linux on Laptops
Hi All,
Has anyone had any success setting up Redhat
on a Dell Latitude CPi. Ive
installed RedHat 6.1 and I am having problem
setting up X. The display
adapter is a Neomagic which setup has
identified but when it tries to probe
it fails and asks me once again to specify
the amount of Video RAM I have,
monitor etc.
If anyone has got it working could you tell
me how, or better yet send me
your XF86Config file. Im at my wits end.
Best Regards
Robert
