One solution is to use one (or more) of the MS mail clients which
supports IMAP and connect to an IMAP server. This will give you two
separate mail stores - one in the .PST file and one on the IMAP
server. Then all you have to do is to drag and drop between the mail
stores.
The earlier MS mail clients (up to '97) don't support IMAP at all, and
after that they support it in a kinda-sorta way. They almost certainly
don't support dragging and dropping entire folders, but you can drag and
drop the contents of entire folders once you have manually created them
on the IMAP store. This of course is a right pain in the arse if you
have spent the last 3 years setting up 73 top level folders with 17
subfolders each.
Once you have the mail copied up to the IMAP store, just connect with
your new Linux machine and away you go. If you don't want to use IMAP
in the long run you can just reverse the procedure above and drag it
from the IMAP mail store to your local Linux store.
There are various utilities out there, but I never found anything which
would perform the operation smoothly. Try a search on Altavista or
somewhere like that and you should find something. For some reason
users of Eudora seem to be into this type of thing, so try searching for
"eudora & convert" or something.
Cheers,
David
