Well, it works. I now know how to make a bootable VAX
disk, and have successfully booted (and crashed) a Linux
kernel on that machine.
I'll add the tools to do this to the CVS tree tomorrow
(time permitting).
However, my el-cheapo SCSI card in the PC and the driver
don't seem to like stuff powering up and down on the
SCSI bus. I have to turn everything on in a certain order,
or linux locks up or crashes.
So I'd love recommendations for a reasonably-priced SCSI
adapter to meet the following criteria:
o Fast enough to feed, say, a DDS 2 tape drive
o Solid linux drivers that will be able to handle
devices powering up/down. I don't mind having to
manually send the add/remove-single-device stuff
to /proc/scsi/scsi.
o Internal and external connectors.
Any suggestions?
Later,
Kenn
