I think that it is possible to nuke individual connections, I saw
something explaining how it's done as an "extra" linked off squid's main
site. can't remember anything more than that unfortunately.
here I just have a little crontab that kills squid & restarts it every
hour, preventing it running away with itself & bombing out all & sundry.
some users complain of connections being refused but they're just users.
