I did a 'ps aux' and got the following (among other things . . .)

root 642 0.0 0.3 2560 960 ? S 11:22 0:00
/etc/X11/prefdm -
root 644 0.0 0.1 1052 280 ? S 11:22 0:00 update
(bdflush)
root 646 0.3 0.8 5896 2284 ? S 11:22 0:03
/usr/X11R6/bin/X
root 647 0.0 0.7 3372 2040 ? S 11:22 0:00 -:0

root 658 0.0 0.5 2352 1412 ? S 11:22 0:00 fvwm2 -cmd
FvwmM4
root 743 0.0 0.3 2012 956 ? S 11:22 0:00
/usr/X11R6/lib/X1
root 744 0.0 0.3 1972 860 ? S 11:22 0:00
/usr/X11R6/lib/X1
root 746 0.0 0.7 3032 1944 ? S 11:22 0:00 xterm +ut
-geomet
root 747 0.0 0.7 3540 2008 ? S 11:22 0:00
control-panel -ge
root 748 0.0 0.5 2528 1388 ? SN 11:22 0:00 xload
-nolabel -g
root 750 0.0 0.3 1960 836 ? S 11:22 0:00
/usr/X11R6/lib/X1

Note the name of process 647. Strange or what ?

I did a 'ps al' and it showed that 647 was a child of 642 - prefdm

Should I be worried ?

It may be a normal thing, but anything with a smilie as a process name is a
bit dodgy in my books.
