If you're going to develop something that more than one
person has access to the sources of and/or it's got more than
one directory, you should use CVS. CVS eases the pain with
more than one developer working on the same files, and the
interface is OS-independent. I know there is a good book on
CVS from Coriolis, but I don't have a URL at the moment.

(I just started getting into CVS, and must say it's a real
timesaver - mess up a version of your program? Just use the
cvs diff command to see what you changed, and fix it.)
