sorry, can't agree here.  mysql doesn't have all the power of oracle,
but if you stay in its limitations you get a high speed database.  it
easily outperforms oracle, but then it does so by not having all of
oracle's features.

oracle seems to be running fine under linux for us.  we use it in one
case where we need row locking.
