 Just a thought. I ran "hdparm" on one of my disks connected to the BP6,
and it showed that it wasn't setup right at all.

 I ran:
    hdparm -a 16 -A 1 -c 3 -d 1 -k 1 -K 1 -m 16 -u 1 -X 66 -W 1  /dev/hda

 On the disk, and it gave back:

/dev/hda:
 setting fs readahead to 16
 setting 32-bit I/O support flag to 3
 setting multcount to 16
 setting unmaskirq to 1 (on)
 setting using_dma to 1 (on)
 setting keep_settings to 1 (on)
 setting drive keep features to 1 (on)
 setting xfermode to 66 (UltraDMA mode2)
 setting drive read-lookahead to 1 (on)
 setting drive write-caching to 1 (on)
 multcount    = 16 (on)
 I/O support  =  3 (32-bit w/sync)
 unmaskirq    =  1 (on)
 using_dma    =  1 (on)
 keepsettings =  1 (on)
 readahead    = 16 (on)

  Performance while swapping is greatly enhanced, and it's not crashed
(well, it crashed when I set it to -X 68 (DMA mode 4, or UDMA 66, on the
UDMA33 controller !) since!

 I'd appricate any comments people have on disk settings...their effect on
speed & reliability.
