there are a variety of patches to cvsweb, so you might want to look
at those.  http://www.cyclic.com/ has other gui tools listed.  also
look at http://www.mozilla.org/ and look into tinderbox and bonsai.
i've set up the latter and find it useful to track version.

besides most linux distributions linux installation programs and then
using emacs's cvs mode?  8^)
