A quickie for someone who knows the answer I hope

Is there a way of forcing Loadlin to run to a specfic runlevel,

The Reason!
I have a laptop here which decided to sit smiling with a LI_ prompt this
morning (no idea why seeing as nothing serious' been changed in the last
2 weeks)  & seeing as loadlin appeared to be the quickest fix to hand I
ended using that, but alas this machine (redhat 6.1 /6.2 ) goes straight
to X when booted. This resulted in that wonderful situation where X
couldn't stay running & just restarted ad nausium.  
Anyway is there a way of forcing loadlin to boot single user mode,
somewhat akin to the lilo method of doing "$label_name telinit 1" at the
prompt as this would have saved about an hours worth of pushing &
pulling network cards in & out so I could fix this across the network.
