I had problems with an onboard network card on this Dell in work, so there's
now a PCI tulip, the onboard is disabled via bios. I used modconf in Debian to
install the module into the kernel, and it seemed to work fine (lsmod brings
it up anyways).
ifconfig -a shows eth0 and lo
ifconfig eth0 seems perfectly fine with the inet addr, broadcast and mask all
right.
I try a simple
route add -net 127.0.0.1 and I get a
SIOCADDRT: Invalid argument error. Now this is being taken from
/etc/init.d/network so I presume everything is alright?
ifconfig brings up error when I try to set the address, broadcast netmask etc
as well
Debian with a 2.2.12 kernel..
Any ideas?
