[ILUG] WvDial and Mobiles

At home I use SuSE 6.2 / wvdial & internal modem / Netscape for Internet /
mail.
I am very happy with this set-up.
I plan to stick SuSE on a laptop & use a mobile / cable_to_com_1 / setup for
roaming Web/mail access.
I know my current mobile will not support this.
I know to be wary of Windoze-only "software modems" in some phones.

Could anyone on ILUG suggest phones that are known_to_work.
I.e a phone that will emulate/be an external modem on a com port as seen by
WvDial/Linux.

Apologies for mail format but am using Outlook at work due to company
policy.
