 seriously, tim o'reilly kicked amazon's ass in his column there about a week
ago, but he spoke with jeff bezos since and has posted on www.oreilly.com
about amazon's real concerns about bastard competitors, and how they feel
they had no choice but to patent 'one-click' and sue competitors.  bezos says
that barnes and noble and others have just copied amazon feature-by-feature
without innovation of their own and they're pissed off.  i believe him.
patents may suck, and ring particularly hollow with open-source folks, but
blatant commercial plagiarism should too.

 significantly, he said they aren't going to sue everybody who infringes the
patent.  not that this goes far enough but it is helpful.
