idea</Mutter>. Either way kernel space mixer or not I reckon we should 
be able to have a hundred sound apps all chirping along together. If I 
had the patience and money I'd hunt down every app that uses sound 
under linux, rewrite it for esd or "something" that does multiple 
mixing and network sound. Then beat the crap out of anyone who dares 
open /dev/audio, or even pretends to know of its existence. Fund 
development to combine the best of the existing network sound thingies 
and hire hitmen to set no anyone who thereafter creates a competing 
protocol.
