Hi,

The version of Mandrake Linux 7.0 that is being given
away free with PC Plus comes with a warning for those
using a dual-boot setup.  Here's a snippet, full details
are avilable at www.pcplus.co.uk/discs.

Call me cynical, but after the Dec 1999 mess with
Mandrake 6.1 on the cover disc, I'm really not
surprised. Granted, it only affects the installation
via CDRom / DVD - I usually boot from a floppy when
installing - but this is the kind of thing that
will turn off potential new Linux users. Thinking:
great, I can try out the Linux thing that everyone's
talking about, and still keep my Windows stuff, and
(from the sounds of the warning) hey, presto! their
Windows partition is gone... and Linux gets the blame.

Hmmm.... Better off with SuSE or Red Hat anyway!
(apologies to Debian users).

Regards,
Cormac.

If you intend to install Linux-Mandrake on a machine that
already has Windows installed, you must start the
installation process with a boot floppy disk - a downloadable
boot floppy image is available here. Although both the CD and
the DVD are bootable, using these discs to start the installation
may result in corruption of your Windows partition.
