 Yeah. I could also set mutt up to attach a 50k gif photograph with
 my finger prints on it to each and every mail. Plus a html copy of
 my cv. Almost as good :)

 A signature is (near) proof that a certain person has written a
 particular message. That's fine all by itself, but as long as no
 sensitive, or "life or death" type information is involved, I don't
 need that proof.

 Some people who sign emails don't upload their keys to the public key
 servers. This is useless, too. Short of contacting them and asking to
 send their key to me (and why should I have to do this ?), I can't
 establish their id.

 I don't mind signatures in private email. I also don't mind signatures
 on list mail for specific purposes (eg. patches, see mutt-dev).

 No doubt the next thing we'll discuss are old style vs. new style sigs ...
