Just as I wouldn't recommend Debian/Intel for a PC Linux wannabee, nor would
I recommend it for a Mac. Ease of installation is important for a new user,
and Debian doesn't have that.

 From what I read, Yellow Dog seems to be about the best Mac distribution out
there. Their web site is at www.yellowdoglinux.com and they have an
"Introduction to Linux" set up at www.maclinux.com. They supply something
called Mac-On-Linux (MOL) which appears to be like VMware in that you can
run the full MacOS as a guest under Linux but unlike VMware, MOL is free.
