using redhat rpm's for diald and ppp (this is a redhat 6.1 box):
diald-0.99.1-2
ppp-2.3.10-3
using the following /etc/diald.conf file:
mode ppp
connect "/usr/sbin/chat -v -f /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/chat-ppp0"
device /dev/ttyS0
speed 115200
modem
lock
crtscts
local 192.168.5.29
remote 192.168.5.30
debug 0x0008
dynamic
defaultroute
pppd-options name Oceanfree
include /usr/lib/diald/standard.filter
using the following chat file (name as specified above):
TIMEOUT 60
ABORT BUSY
ABORT ERROR
ABORT 'NO CARRIER'
ABORT 'NO DIAL TONE'
ABORT 'NO DIALTONE'
ABORT '** Bad Password'
'' ATZ OK
ATM1 OK
ATDT2434321 CONNECT
the error i get is:
May 18 00:29:35 inle diald: diald startup succeeded
May 18 00:29:35 inle diald[677]: Proxy device established on interface
tap0
May 18 00:29:35 inle diald[677]: Diald initial setup completed.

dial.
May 18 00:29:52 inle diald[677]: SIGTERM. Termination request received.
May 18 00:29:52 inle diald[677]: Diald is dieing with code 0
May 18 00:29:52 inle diald: diald shutdown succeeded
i ran the chat script via strace and noticed this in the strace log:
ioctl(0, TCGETS, 0xbffffc68) = -1 EINVAL (Invalid argument)
and i also found that diald sets up pipes to connect up chat diald, and
/dev/ttyS0.
has anyone here gotten diald running under redhat using the standard
chat scripts? i'd rather do it that way then install bits that will be
a pita to upgrade later.
