why are you using a US proxy? use one of the european ones, much,
/much/ faster when you use the right one.
top level proxies are reading, reo, and valbonne, vbo. reading is a
hop or two closer to dublin, but tends to get heavy use. valbonne
tends to be faster (network permitting). dublin ones,
www-proxy.db{o,e}.cpqcorp.net, were just aliases for reading when i
was there. so use ->
www-proxy.vbo.cpqcorp.net
only disadvantage is that the european ones all seem to have a very
annoying filter on them, some of the american ones might not, eg palo
alto -> www-proxy.pa.{dec.com,cpqcorp.net}.
