Hi Deim,

i assume both subnets are on the same physical net? so if i
understand you correctly you have:


mail-server
attached to: subnet1
default route-> router on subnet2

router
attached to: subnet1, subnet2
policy: don't forward anything to subnet2

linux box:
attached to: subnet1, subnet2
default route: router on subnet2

so your linux box can ping reach boxes on subnet1 and subnet2, but not
the mail server?

the most obvious questions:

the mail server is on subnet1, but it's default route is a router on
subnet2? how is the mail server supposed to reach the default gateway?
are there any other machines on the mail servers subnet that you can
try pinging from the linux box?
