A mail came about here this morning from one of our managers and I'm gonna
quote it here. As I don't use Apache myself (yet) I'd be interested to
hear people's interpretations of this problem. I'm interested because its
another oppertunity to get a Linux box in here. All replies welcome.
Thanks,
Noel
Some of the guys are trying to implement a secure WEBServer using SSL and
HTTPs. They have been hoping to use APACHE on NT and had to recompile the
APACHE source code to include the SSL plug-in for Apache. (ApacheSSLMod)
They are having alot of problems with it.
They are considering too other options. The first is to install Linux on an
NT machine and use Apache for linux which apparently more reliable.
An alternative is to use NT with IIS.
Has anyone any idea how secure IIS is?
Do you know if IIS supports servlets?
Do you know how difficult it is configure IIS for SSL?
Do you have any recommendations as to other ways to go or how easy or
difficult either option above is?
The advantages to disadvantages of one over the other?
Preferred OS/Platform and WEBServer technology?
