In regards to the pcmcia jobbys, thats what I was thinking, I just love
recompiling a super tight kernel, makes the response time better...or it
could be in me head..

I ended up swapping my 10/100 nic - I just could not get the fecker to work
under linux - for a 10 mbit one - ohh the pain - 
To be honest - the speed difference is negligible, and the new one worked
upon insertion...

As for VMWARE - I just ordered a 10 user license as it works now no worries,
2.2.17 solved the cdrom issue.

ps. shares in linux has fallen big time (RH are lower than their original
offering), possibly time to buy? if I had any cash left, fancy lending me a
tenner?

Look for the kernel-pcmcia rpms. The pcmcia stuff isn't integrated with
the rest of the kernel (or at least, it wasn't).
