Many thanks, Ill get to grips with pcmcia stuff soon, actually its come
together - I think - wait till it all falls apart.
I'm a learn one thing at a time man. Still a newbie - but getting better -
at least nothing has blown up yet.

Conor,
As regards VMware, I have a fuzzy recollection that it is broken
since 2.4.0-test5. I am not certain whether it is test 5, but a change to
/proc/cpuinfo in one of the recent 2.4.0-test series has broken VMware.
As regards pcmcia stuff, you have a choice. In 2.4.0-testx, lots of pcmcia
drivers are now in the kernel source tree, but they are still a bit
unstable,
and may prove difficult to compile and/or get working. The other option is
not
to compile the kernel drivers ( but DO specify pcmcia support ), and compile
the pcmcia-cs package to provide pcmcia drivers. ( Hope I remember
the package name correctly, there is a project site at sourceforge ). I have
used the kernel drivers in test8 & test10
with no problems for my hardware, but that's not much use for you as regards
VMware.
I had CD working OK for Win98 using a 2.2.14-15mdk kernel ( but no DVD yet
).
