Hi there,

I have reinstalled Red Hat 6.2 over my SuSE 6.4, company seems to be
moving towards Red Hat for production of our new software. Now I am one
of those whistle while you work people and Like to have music playing.
The sndconfig utility which comes with Red Hat dose not support my
PCI Cirrus Logic|CS 4614/22/24 [CrystalClear SoundFusion Audio
Accelerator] But Alsa dose. So I downloaded the latest Alsa Drivers,
Lib's and Utils. Followed the documents for installation and proceeded
with a modprobe snd-card-cs461x. When I do a lsmod I get the following
...

Module Size Used by
snd-card-cs461x 2008 0
snd-cs461x 65036 0 [snd-card-cs461x]
snd-pcm 30360 0 [snd-cs461x]
snd-timer 8672 0 [snd-pcm]
snd-rawmidi 9720 0 [snd-cs461x]
snd-seq-device 3344 0 [snd-rawmidi]
snd-ac97-codec 23040 0 [snd-cs461x]
snd-mixer 27344 0 [snd-ac97-codec]
snd 37292 1 [snd-card-cs461x snd-cs461x snd-pcm
snd-timer
snd-rawmidi snd-seq-device snd-ac97-codec snd-mixer]
soundcore 2628 2 [snd]
lockd 30344 1 (autoclean)
sunrpc 52132 1 (autoclean) [lockd]
3c59x 18980 1 (autoclean)

But when I try to play a MP3 on Xmms I get a /dev/dsp: No such device
error on my command line. I know this sound card works. I had no
problems with SuSE 6.4.

Any suggestions or comments.
Thanks.
Jason
