What you're talking about then is a standalone ISDN router rather than a TA.
There are a number available from 3Com, Zyxel, Cisco etc. and one called
Lightning from a Swiss company (name escapes me) which is small, cheap, and
Linux based but as of about a month ago, it wasn't yet available. The ISDN
routers are I think all heading for a about £1K in price. The serial port
TAs (I think they are a most ridiculous class of device) cost £300+ and an
ISDN card which is directly supported in the Linux kernel costs from £20.
You pays your money, and makes your choice (where the serial TA is a piss
poor choice).
