Serial port TAs don't usually cost over 300... well depends on what make/model
and where you buy them I suppose but I've rarely seen them that expensive.  If
you're implying that Serial TAs are a stupid idea because of the 112KBPS limit
that most serial ports have then you should also consider that most internal
TAs are also restricted to 112KBPS.  Running a variety of OSs though I just
prefer an external TA because it'll run with all of them as long as they
support serial ports (and not may OSs don't)
