The Zip problem is not related to the mice.
An originally formatted Zip disk will always mount as /dev/sda4 (your Zip
drive is /dev/sda, the partition number is 4). A reformatted Zip disk (in
DOS / Win anyway) becomes /dev/sda1. This *can* cause mounting problems,
although it should be avoidable under linux (if reformatting, first fdisk
/dev/sda and create a partition number 4 only !)
You should always (well nearly always) mount a partition, not the raw drive,
hence you need to mount /dev/sda4 (or /dev/sda1 if it has been reformatted).
