I've just installed kernel-2.4.0-test8 on this Fujitsu Lifebook I-Series -
"legacy free", I'm afraid. As far as external keyboards and mice goes, it
is working with both a PS2 mouse with USB converter, and a proper USB
mouse (indeterminate brand). It also works with an iMac keyboard. devfsd
seems to work quite well, as long as you have devfsd running automatically
at startup.
Since the trackpad on this is PS/2, XFree 4's support for multiple input
devices comes in handy...
Problems: after a suspend, one of the USB mice becomes confused, but
taking it out and plugging back in works. Also, this machine comes with a
Y-E USB floppy drive, and inserting the relevant module (usb-storage.o)
causes a hang.

I know that Storm Linux 2000 detected USB mouse and keyboard, if you're
looking for an install and go solution, but probably most distributions
now include the USB backport. Don't know how much worse the backport is
though, and you do miss out on fun things like devfs ;)
