[ILUG] [OT] Windows won't go away... :-(

Just last week I had the sobering realisation that even if Linux (or any
other *nix, for that matter) was to take over the desktop and all, Windows
simply won't go away - at least not for electronics engineers like myself.
It simply amazes me how many new scopes, network analysers, function
generators, etc.pp. run unter Windows these days. And all with the same
advertising: "No training necessary, as it's using the familiar Windows
interface"... Pfff... or "Can export data in industry standard Excel format"
(makes me wonder which one...) and so on... <sigh>
I still wonder what's so f...lipping difficult in pressing a few buttons to
get a waveform and why the screen suddenly has to be bigger for a scope just
to fit the waveform in between the titlebar and menubar... My feeling is
these yokes will be around for quite some time... :-(
