[ILUG] Environment for Gnome desktop apps?

Redhat 6.2 / fvwm = edit ~/.Xinitrc or ~/.$wmrc to include the correct
path but that's just me. I'm not sure what the equivilent method for
Gnome is & I couldn't see an obvious answer with my first glance.

 From a per user method (could also be done globally I'm sure) would be
to write a wrapper script which will set the correct env's prior to
launching, Then have $user start that script instead.
