stty -a | grep erase. see if they're different.

i see more of these every day. are viruses (virii?) really that bad or
is it all just media hype? except for a brief stint doing dev on macs
and dos followed by doing dev on a proprietary os/lang, i've always
worked on unix boxes. the whole concept of a virus is just bizzare for
me and not something i've worried much about. occasionally something
cropped up like emacs modelines, ./.exrc, file access in ps and it's
usage in ghostscript. but i've never gotten any of these things myself.
has anyone here actually gotten a virus on a mac or windows box?
did it actually do anything harmful?
