Apart from the normal keyboard shortcuts detailed in other postings, one 
thing that does work
in most installs of XFree is the accessibility keyboard-mouse emulation -
you can press shift-Num Lock, you'll hear a beep, and then the numeric 
keypad arrow keys
controls the mouse pointer until you press shift-numlock again. I think 
0 is the LMB.
