Did you choose the Generic LCD or monitor ???
What kind of graphical chipset do you have ? If it's something like
NeoMagic 256 and it has 6Mb you will need to modify XFree86 config file
to say that it has 4mb RAM. There are a few little tricks to try out.
Check out Linux on Laptops (check google for the correct URL). Look up
your laptop make and model and read if there are any other people who've
gotten it to work. Usually you can download their own config files to
try out.
